Dodona is an ancient site in Epirus, in northwestern Greece, that held one of the oldest oracles in the Greek world, dedicated to Zeus. Ancient sources, including Homer, describe it as a prophetic shrine, and it ranked second in prestige only to the Oracle of Delphi among Greek sanctuaries. Its remote location, away from the major Greek city-states, gave it a distinctive character among Greek religious sites.
