Dorsten is a town in the Recklinghausen district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on the western rim of Westphalia bordering the Rhineland, with a population of about 74,783 as of December 2025. It received city rights in 1251 and later joined the Hanseatic League because of its position on the Lippe River. Dorsten is home to the Jewish Museum of Westphalia and maintains sister city relationships with towns in England, France, Germany, Israel, Northern Ireland, Poland and Nicaragua.
