Dubbo is a city in the Orana Region of New South Wales, Australia, and the largest population centre in that region, at the intersection of the Newell, Mitchell and Golden highways. It recorded a population of 43,516 at the 2021 census over an area of 182.6 square kilometers, and became a city in 1966. Its name derives from the Wiradjuri language, possibly meaning red soil, and the city functions as a major road and rail freight hub linking Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle and Adelaide.
