Dumbéa is a commune in Greater Nouméa, New Caledonia, in South Province, that grew from just 284 residents in 1956 to nearly 36,000 by 2019 as Nouméa's suburbs expanded, especially from the 1980s onward. It once had a rail connection to Nouméa, from 1904 to 1940, and today functions as a residential suburb with sister city ties to communities in France, French Polynesia and Vanuatu.
