Durango, officially Victoria de Durango, is the capital and largest city of the northern Mexican state of Durango and the seat of the municipality of Durango. It had a population of 616,068 at the 2020 census, with 688,697 across the municipality, and sits at an altitude of 1,890 meters in the Valley of Guadiana. The city's official name honors Guadalupe Victoria, the first president of Mexico and a native of the state.
