Eltynia was a town of ancient Crete known chiefly through inscriptions, the earliest dating from the sixth and fifth centuries BCE, including a law addressing offenses committed against young people. The city also appears in a list of Cretan cities named in a decree of Knossos from around 259 to 233 BCE, and among the Cretan cities that signed an alliance with Eumenes II of Pergamon in 183 BCE.
