Ely, Nevada

Ely is the only city in and the county seat of White Pine County, Nevada, United States. It was founded as a stagecoach station along the Pony Express and Central Overland Route, and its mining boom began after copper was discovered there in 1906, arriving later than in other towns along U.S. Route 50. The railroads that once connected the transcontinental railroad to mines in Austin and Eureka, Nevada have long been removed, but the line into Ely survives as a heritage railway, the Nevada Northern Railway, known as the Ghost Train of Old Ely.
