Erythrae, later known as Lythri, was one of the twelve Ionian cities of Asia Minor, situated on a small peninsula in the Bay of Erythrae opposite the island of Chios. Excellent wine was produced there, and the city was noted as the seat of the Erythraean Sibyl. Its ruins lie north of the town of Ildiri in the Cesme district of Izmir Province, Turkey.
