Erzincan is a city in eastern Turkey's Erzincan Province, situated in a fertile valley along the upper Euphrates river basin surrounded by mountains. The city has a long history stretching back to antiquity and has been rebuilt more than once after severe earthquakes, most devastatingly in 1939. Today it serves as a provincial capital and regional market center for the surrounding agricultural valley.
