Europus, also spelled Europos, was a town in Bottiaea in ancient Macedonia, located between Idomenae and the plains of Cyrrhus and Pella on the right bank of the Axius river, near where the modern town of Evropos stands. Ancient geographers noted the strength of its position, which allowed it to resist an invasion by the Thracian king Sitalces, and both Ptolemy and Pliny the Elder distinguished this town of Emathia from another Europus in the region of Almopia.
