Falkenberg is a town in Halland County on Sweden's west coast, at the mouth of the Atran River, serving as the seat of Falkenberg Municipality, with a population of 46,981 as of April 2023. A Danish fort was built there in the early 13th century while the region was under Danish rule, and the settlement gained market rights in 1558; the area became permanently Swedish after the Treaties of Bromsebro (1645) and Roskilde (1658). In the 20th century Falkenberg developed into a popular seaside resort, drawing visitors to its Skrea strand beach.
