Frankfort is the capital city of the U.S. state of Kentucky, a home rule-class municipality and the county seat of Franklin County, sitting along the Kentucky River in the inner Bluegrass region. With a 2020 population of 28,602 it ranks as the thirteenth largest city in Kentucky and the fourth smallest U.S. state capital by population.
