Fredericton is the capital city of the Canadian province of New Brunswick, situated in the west-central part of the province along the Saint John River, which flows west to east and bisects the city. It is one of the main urban centres in New Brunswick, with a population of approximately 79,000 and a metropolitan population estimated at 125,303 in 2025, making it the third-largest city in the province after Moncton and Saint John.
