Frydek-Mistek is a city in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, formed in 1943 by the merger of the two towns of Frydek and Mistek on opposite banks of the Ostravice river. The city sits at the edge of the Beskid Mountains near the Polish border and has historically been a textile manufacturing center, though its economy has diversified since. It serves as an administrative and cultural center for the surrounding Frydek-Mistek District.
