Furstenau is a municipality in the district of Osnabruck in Lower Saxony, Germany, about 40 kilometers northwest of Osnabruck and 25 kilometers east of Lingen. It is the seat of the Samtgemeinde, or collective municipality, of Furstenau. The St. Georg Evangelical Lutheran Church stands on the town market square; its bells were ordered melted down for metal during the Second World War, but one was secretly buried and survived until after the war.
