Fürstenfeldbruck

Furstenfeldbruck is a town in Bavaria, Germany, about 32 kilometers west of Munich on the Amper river, and is the capital of Furstenfeldbruck district, with a population of 37,420 as of the end of 2024. It grew around Furstenfeld Abbey, a Cistercian monastery founded in 1266 and closed in 1803, and has hosted an air base since the 1930s, used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War and later by the United States Air Force before returning to German control in 1957. That air base was the site where the 1972 Munich Olympics hostage crisis ended, with the deaths of nine Israeli hostages and several of their captors.
