Gori is a city in eastern Georgia, serving as the regional capital of Shida Kartli. It lies at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Liakhvi rivers and is the fifth most populous city in Georgia. Its name derives from the Georgian word gora, meaning heap, hill, or mountain.
