Goslar

Goslar is a historic town in Lower Saxony, Germany, on the northwestern slopes of the Harz mountain range, serving as the administrative center of the district of Goslar. The Old Town of Goslar, with more than 1,500 timber houses, and the nearby Mines of Rammelsberg are UNESCO World Heritage Sites recognized for their millennium-long testimony to the history of ore mining and their political importance to the Holy Roman Empire and the Hanseatic League. Each year the town awards the Kaiserring, sometimes called the Nobel Prize of the art world, to an international artist.
