Grafton is a city in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, on the floodplain of the Clarence River about 620 kilometres north northeast of Sydney, known to the Bundjalung people as Gumbin Gir. Founded in 1851, it had a population of 19,255 at the 2021 census and is the largest settlement in the Clarence Valley Council area, sharing administrative duties as a joint seat with Maclean.
