Grimma is a town on the left bank of the Mulde river in Saxony, Germany, about twenty five kilometers southeast of Leipzig, with 27,529 inhabitants as of December 2024. Of Sorbian origin, it was first documented in 1065 and founded around 1170, and from 1550 was home to one of three elite Saxon boarding schools, the Gymnasium St. Augustin, which still operates today. The town suffered severe flooding from the Mulde in both 2002 and 2013.
