Gronau is a town and municipality in the district of Hildesheim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It lies on the River Leine, about 15 kilometers southwest of Hildesheim and 35 kilometers south of Hanover. Since November 2016 the former municipalities of Banteln, Betheln, Brüggen, Despetal and Rheden have been part of the municipality of Gronau.
