Halifax, officially the Halifax Regional Municipality, is the capital and most populous municipality of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, and the most populous municipality in Atlantic Canada. The city was formed through the 1996 merger of four former municipalities: Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, and Halifax County.
