Hillerod is a Danish town with a population of 36,873, located in the center of North Zealand approximately 30 kilometers northwest of Copenhagen. It is the administrative center of Hillerod Municipality and also the administrative seat of Region Hovedstaden, one of Denmark's five regions, and is best known for its large Renaissance castle, Frederiksborg Castle, now home to the Museum of National History.
