Hospet, officially known as Hosapete, is the largest and fastest growing industrial city and district headquarters of Vijayanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka, known as the steel city of Karnataka. It sits on the bank of the Tungabhadra River, 13 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi, once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, and lies 333 kilometers from the state capital, Bengaluru, serving as a connecting link between North and South Karnataka.
