Hoxter is a town in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on the left bank of the river Weser, about 52 kilometers north of Kassel. It lies in the heart of the Weser Uplands and is the seat of the Hoxter district, whose roughly 30,000 residents are split about evenly between the town and the surrounding district. Historical forms of its name include Hoxer and Huxaria.
