Hvar is a town and port on the island of the same name, part of Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. Its municipality has a population of 4,251 as of the 2011 census, while the town itself is inhabited by 3,771 people, the largest settlement on the island; it sits on a bay on the island's south coast, opposite the nearby towns of Stari Grad and Jelsa.
