Indramayu is a town on the north coast of West Java, Indonesia, capital of Indramayu Regency, with a mid-2024 population estimate of 125,570 across 53.58 square kilometers. It grew from the Dermayu Sultanate, founded in 1478 by Sultan Khalif Aria Wirasamudra after independence from Majapahit and absorbed into Dutch East India Company rule in 1770, and it was Indonesia's leading rice-producing region through the 1980s and 1990s and remains known for its mangosteens and mangoes.
