Ios

Ios is a Greek island in the Cyclades group of the Aegean Sea, roughly halfway between Naxos and Santorini, about 18 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide with an area of 109 square kilometers, with 2,299 residents at the 2021 census, down from around 3,500 in the twentieth century. Tradition holds that the poet Homer died and is buried on the island, and since the 1970s Ios has grown into a popular tourist destination, especially with younger travelers, developing an organized marina and an amphitheater to broaden its appeal beyond its nightlife reputation.
