Jableh is a Mediterranean coastal city in Syria Latakia Governorate, about 25 kilometers north of Baniyas and 25 kilometers south of Latakia, with roughly 80,000 inhabitants. Known in antiquity as Gabala, it was a Byzantine archbishopric and remains a Latin Catholic titular see. It contains the tomb and mosque of Ibrahim ibn Adham, a Sufi mystic said to have renounced his throne to devote himself to prayer.
