Jacmel is a commune in southern Haiti and the capital of the Sud-Est department, about 24 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince across the Tiburon Peninsula, with a population of 221,965 at the 2024 census. In 1925 Jacmel was dubbed the City of Light, becoming the first town in the Caribbean to have electricity.
