Jiaxing is a prefecture level city in northern Zhejiang province, China, with a population of 5,400,868 recorded in the 2020 census. The city sits on the Grand Canal of China and is traditionally known as the hometown of Chinese silk production. Jiaxing was the birthplace of the Neolithic Majiabang culture, and the Chinese Communist Party was officially founded on a boat on the city's South Lake.
