Joinville is the largest municipality in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil. Its population was about 664,500 in 2025. Settled largely by European immigrants of Portuguese, German, Polish, Austrian, Swiss, Czech and Italian descent, Joinville hosts the world's largest dance festival each year and is one of only two cities outside Moscow with a Bolshoi Ballet school.
