Kahramanmaraş, historically known as Marash and Germanicea, is a city in the Mediterranean region of Turkey and the administrative center of Kahramanmaraş Province. It had a population of 571,266 as of 2022. The city is internationally known for dondurma, a traditional stretchy ice cream that originated there and gave rise to globally recognized brands. On February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş was struck by a pair of major earthquakes that devastated large parts of its urban area.
