Kavaje is a city and municipality in Albania Tirana County, in the Western Lowlands near the Adriatic coast, with a 2023 census population of 30,012 across roughly 199 square kilometers. Mentioned in Ottoman land registry archives from 1431 to 1432, it was formally incorporated as a municipality in 1867 and became an important industrial center during the 1960s under communist rule, later playing a role in Albania anti-communist movements of the late 1980s.
