Kfar Saba is a city in Israel's Sharon region within the Central District, at the narrowest point of Israeli territory, only about 14 kilometers from the West Bank. Established in 1898 as a Jewish moshav, with permanent settlement beginning in 1903, it was destroyed and rebuilt more than once, including sheltering about a thousand Jewish refugees of the Tel Aviv and Jaffa deportation during the First World War, and it was granted city status in 1962. The 2024 population was 99,410, the sixteenth largest city in Israel and nearly entirely Jewish, and Kfar Saba ranked highest among Israeli cities in a 2024 survey of job satisfaction, life expectancy and quality of life, known for its red-tiled roof architecture and home to Meir Hospital, opened in 1956.
