Kiryat Yam is a city in the Haifa Bay district of Israel, about 12 kilometers north of Haifa on the Mediterranean coast, between Kiryat Haim and Kiryat Motzkin as part of the group of suburbs known as the Krayot. Residential development began in 1939 on land from the 1925 Sursock Purchase, with the first homes completed in 1940 and the city formally established in 1945. As of 2024 the city had approximately 41,957 residents in an area of roughly 4.3 square kilometers, with a population that is 99.8 percent Jewish or other non-Arab.
