Kisújszállás is a town in the Karcag District of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, Hungary. Its name is historically layered: kis (small) refers to the settlement modest size, új (new) points to a renewed occupation, and szállás (lodging) recalls the less structured villages of the Kun and Jász peoples who settled the area in the 14th and 15th centuries.
