Kladno is a city in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, with about 70,000 inhabitants, making it the largest city in the region. It developed as a major industrial center historically known for coal mining and steel production, particularly at the Poldi steelworks, and has been described as the cradle of heavy industry in Bohemia. Kladno is also known as the hometown of several internationally prominent ice hockey players, including Jaromir Jagr.
