Korbach is the district seat of Waldeck-Frankenberg in northern Hesse, Germany, with 22,901 residents as of the end of 2024. Over a thousand years old and located on the German Timber-Frame Road, it received town rights in 1188 from the Bishop of Paderborn and is the only town in Hesse to have been a member of the Hanseatic League, first recorded as such in 1469. In 2018 it hosted the 58th Hessentag, the Hessian state festival.
