Kundiawa is the capital of Simbu Province in the Papua New Guinea highlands, sitting at roughly 1,524 meters elevation along the Highlands Highway about halfway between Goroka and Mount Hagen, framed by the Wahgi and Simbu Rivers. It functions as the province's administrative and commercial center, with banking, policing, medical and postal services and one of the province's few airports, while the surrounding cash economy runs mainly on coffee farming.
