Kutacane is a town in Aceh province, Indonesia, and the seat of Southeast Aceh Regency. It lies in a valley within the Bukit Barisan mountain range of northern Sumatra, at an average elevation of around 270 meters, and serves as the upstream area of the Singkil river basin, giving it a role in regional watershed management. Surrounded by steep hills and tropical forest, Kutacane is also the main gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park, one of Southeast Asia's most biodiverse conservation areas, offering access to jungle trekking and wildlife observation around the Ketambe region.
