Lamia is a city in central Greece dating back to antiquity, today serving as the capital of both the regional unit of Phthiotis and the Central Greece region. According to the 2021 census, the Municipality of Lamia has a population of 66,657, of whom 47,529 live in the city itself. Lamia sits on the slopes of Mount Othrys near the river Spercheios and functions as the agricultural center of a fertile rural and livestock-raising area.
