Langfang is a prefecture-level city in Hebei Province, China, situated roughly midway between Beijing and Tianjin. Known as Tianjin Prefecture until 1973, it was renamed Langfang Prefecture after Tianjin became its own municipality and was upgraded to a full prefecture-level city in 1988; it is the smallest prefecture-level city in Hebei by land area at about 6,417 square kilometers. The 2020 census recorded a population of 5,464,087, with roughly 1.15 million in the built-up metropolitan area.
