Larantuka is the administrative seat of East Flores Regency on the eastern end of Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia, with a mid-2024 population estimate of 41,664 across 75.91 square kilometers. Portuguese traders settled there before 1600 and made it a major regional center for the sandalwood trade, giving rise to a distinct Eurasian community known as the Larantuqueiros, and the overwhelmingly Roman Catholic town is internationally known for Holy Week processions centered on statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary brought by 16th century Portuguese missionaries.
