Lendava is a town in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia, seat of the Municipality of Lendava, near the borders with Hungary and Croatia, with a 2019 population of 2,942 across 5.66 square kilometers. It is the center of Slovenia Hungarian minority, with Hungarian an official language alongside Slovene in the municipality, and it is known for a monumental theater and Hungarian Community Centre designed by architect Imre Makovecz. Part of the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and again briefly from 1941 to 1945, it was renamed from Dolnja Lendava to Lendava in 1955, and it holds one of only two surviving synagogues in Slovenia.
