Liberec

Liberec is a city in the Czech Republic on the Lusatian Neisse River, capital of the Liberec Region and the country's fifth largest city, with about 108,214 residents as of January 2026. First documented in 1352 under the German name Reichenberg, it became a major European textile center in the 19th century known as the Manchester of Bohemia; after Czechoslovakia's founding it briefly served as capital of German Bohemia and, after 1939, of the Nazi Reichsgau Sudetenland, before its German population was expelled following the Second World War, and it is now known for the Jested Tower, a distinctive telecommunications tower and hotel built between 1966 and 1973.
