Liege is a city and municipality in the Belgian region of Wallonia, and the capital of the eponymous province. It sits in the valley of the Meuse in the east of Belgium, not far from the Netherlands and Germany, where the Meuse meets the river Ourthe; part of Wallonia's former industrial backbone, the sillon industriel, it remains the region's principal economic and cultural centre.
