Lier is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp, made up of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt, with its center surrounded by the river Nete. It had a population of 35,712 in 2018 across a total area of 49.70 square kilometers, a density of 720 people per square kilometer. Lier is known for its beers, its patron saint Gummarus, and the Lierse vlaaikes cake, and is home to the world headquarters of the bus and coach manufacturer Van Hool.
