Lille is a city in the northern part of France, within French Flanders, positioned along the Deule river near the border with Belgium, and serves as the capital of the Hauts-de-France region. Long a center of the textile and coal industries, Lille has become a major transport hub linking Paris, London and Brussels by high-speed rail, and is known for its Flemish-influenced old town architecture and its large annual flea market.
