Manjummel is a satellite town of Eloor on the Periyar River near Kochi, in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. References to the settlement date back to the fifteenth century, including a defensive fort built at Kottakunnu by a Travancore ruler against the forces of Tipu Sultan. It grew from an agricultural settlement, whose produce was once shipped to Ernakulam by boat, into an industrial area, though pollution of the Periyar River later left much of its farmland barren.
